Maintenance tips for marble and other porous stone surfaces
Marble is porous and an absorbent stone. This makes it more vulnerable to staining from harsh cleaning products and spills
Always use mats and cutting boards and wipe up any spills immediately.
Avoid coffee and acidic liquids on marble, such as vinegar, tomato and citrus fruits such as lemons, limes and oranges, but also in wine and carbonated drinks. These liquids are corrosive to your marble and can contribute to stains and damage to your marble slab.
Always use a pH-neutral marble cleaner on your marble to prevent discoloration. Harsh cleaners will roughen the surface and make it a magnet for dirt that begins to collect in the pores of the stone and stain the surface.
Impregnate the surface with marble wax regularly and effectively protect it against unwanted water, as well as grease and oil-based stains and dirt.
